Hi, I'm Meg.
No Frills Knitting is a friendly knitting supplies shop based in Bedminster, Bristol. We’ve filled our knitting shop with a crackin’ range of incredible yarns, knitting needles, crochet essentials, craft books and knitting patterns and all kinds of highly useful knitting notions for your project bag. All the items stocked by No Frills Knitting are tried and tested by a group of experienced, expert knitters, so I’m confident you’ll approve of our range of craft supplies. I’m always looking for exciting new additions, so I’d love to hear your suggestions for any new knitty-bits you'd like to see on our shelves.
No Frills Knitting is a lead by me, Meg, a very proud knitting dork. Knitting has been a part of my life since I was 4, when my Mum first taught me, but it really took off during my GCSEs when I’d sneak in knitting during free periods instead of coursework. With all that extra time (oops!), I quickly advanced to more complex knits.
At 19, I joined my first knitting group and found the wealth of knowledge absolutely amazing. That’s when I found my own knitting style - a simple, 'less is more' (or no frills) approach that inspired me to start No Frills Knitting in 2018. At first, it was just designing a few (not so fantastic!) knitting patterns of my own, focusing on hats, socks, and babywear and an Instagram account to show off what I was knitting. I even did a translation test for Petiteknit around then, too.
During Covid was when I took No Frills to the next level. I had a pants job during Covid lockdowns and desperately needed something else to do, so No Frills Knitting officially became a ‘business in a shoebox’ as I started selling notions, knitting needles, and buttons from my bedroom. Fast forward to today, and we’ve grown from a cardboard box into a proper grown-up brick-and-mortar knitting shop on East Street in Bedminster, Bristol.
We’ve been selling yarns and knitting supplies to crafters in Bristol for 3 years now and while I’m still the chief knitter of a whole team of us, nowadays, you’ll often catch me balancing baby Jessie while helping customers find their next knitting project.
